The Great Shakespeare Ride is in aid of
The Shakespeare Hospice
Serving South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds.
The Shakespeare Hospice is a charity that provides care and support to families affected by life limiting illnesses, such as cancer. Since the Hospice opened in 1999, we have helped thousands of families across South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds.
We can help from the moment of diagnosis through to a patient’s recovery or the end of their life and when appropriate our support can extend to the whole family including bereavement care.
This is a really special place. This is the only place I have been able to share my cancer experience. John
Our care is personalised to the needs of individual patients and their families. We enable people to receive high quality hospice care while continuing to live in the comfort of their own home and their local community.
The Shakespeare Hospice Services
Patients, carers and family members can access Day Hospice, Hospice at Home and Family Support Services. These services include nursing care, counselling, complementary therapies such as massage and aromatherapy, physiotherapy and social support.
In 2013 we launched our new Young People’s Services, caring for children and young people in our community. This built on our existing pilot of children’s bereavement support as well as including support for young carers, transitional care for young people with life limiting illness and a volunteering / education programme for local schools.
Our services are free to our patients and their families but are not free to provide. It costs approximately £2.3 million a year to run the Hospice and we receive less than 8% of our funding from the NHS, so every penny really does matter.
